Barbie-looker 1949/50 VW

We had a VW-challenge over att the Swedish model-forum "Skallerackers" a couple of years ago. I took the Gunze 1956 VW and backdated it to 1949/50 specifications, then turned it into a callooker. The reason I dubbed it "Barbie-looker" is due to its copper-pink colour.

This was the inspiration:



I modified the front-beam:



Made new inner panels from styrene:



I reworked the rear lid and scratched the "nose":

This early VW's didn't have the small chromegrilles but I like the early style ROUND chromegrilles, so I scratchbuilt 2 of them:



Seats came from a Tamiya VW:




The dashboard is a resin-piece I got from a fellow modeler in the US:



I did the sunroof using a piece of black cloth, and it actually slides back and forth!!!!



I put some Heavy hi-fi Equipment in the car:

And finally, I got paint on the car and here's how it came out!
